VUT hosts cancer awareness softball tournament

VANDERBIJILPARK. - The Vaal University of Technology’s (VUT) Softball Club invites the masses to the 2016 2nd Annual VUT Softball Cancer Awareness Tournament. The tournament kicks off place this Saturday at the VUT’s Isak Steyl Stadium at 8:00.

Tournament Chairperson Godfrey Nwanekah says, “The objective of this tournament is to educate and bring to light to VUT students and the community of the Vaal Triangle the impact of cancer and how it affects the lives of both men and women today.

The event will also promote softball in our institutions, community and continent as a form of development, community upliftment, to encourage, improve the standard of softball and maximize the participation of softball amongst fellow students and those interested in the community.”
Nwanekah adds that the tournament is also in preparation for the University Sport South African (USSA) Softball Championship in Pretoria later this year. “VUT Softball Club is the current and five times back-to-back of the University Sport South Africa (USSA) Softball Championship.” he concluded.
