Vereeniging Police Spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda confirms the incident, adding that the deceased is a male aged between 38 and 40 years.
“At this moment, the circumstances around the man’s death can not be confirmed. An inquest into the matter has been opened by police.”
Funda further warns members of the community regarding the dangers of the Vaal River, further stating that the communty must refrain from going there for swimming or to perform any rituals.
“The family of the deceased has still not been found. We urge anyone who might have a missing relative who owns the items of clothing in the picture to please come to the Vereeniging Police Station.” Funda concludes.
