Know your municipality: How to contact Midvaal

MIDVAAL. - Midvaal Local Municipality has recently been experiencing a challenge with members of the public phoning the emergency services line to report general enquiries.  This creates a delay on the emergency response time, which can have serious consequences for those phoning through to report life threatening situations.

The municipality’s emergency line is 016 360 7500 and is available 24/7.  This number can be used to report fires, motor vehicle accidents and natural disasters or to request rescue services.  It can also be used to report water, electricity or sewerage problems, but only after hours for these latter three concerns.

The municipality’s switchboard line is 016 360 7400, and the complaints line is 016 360 7486, and both these numbers are available from 7:30 until 16:00, Monday to Friday.  These numbers can be used for general enquiries, to report water, electricity or sewerage problems during working hours, for service delivery requests or complaints, or to request information on municipal facilities such as libraries and halls.

The municipality pleas with the public to report through the correct channels, and at the correct times, to ensure that other members of the public are not inconvenienced or endangered by waiting for an accessible emergency line.
