Water Restrictions implemented in Midvaal

A dry, early spring is anticipated, but there are prospects for good rains from late November/early December. Should these rains materialise and the Vaal system recover, water restrictions will be lifted. Further enquiries can be directed to the Executive Director of the Engineering Services Department, Mr Steph Coetzee, on 016 360 5802. MIDVAAL. – With the  Vaal dam being almost 70% empty,  Midvaal Local Municipality is reacting to the crisis by implementing water restrictions. Collaborated efforts from residents and industry are required to reduce the overall consumption in the municipality by an intended 15%. This is supported by the Director-General of the Department of Water and Sanitation.

The municipality compels all consumers to abide by the following, concerning the use of municipal water:

If borehole water and other alternative sources are being used, this must be clearly communicated and reported to the municipality, and all customers must ensure that they display appropriate signage clearly visible from a public thoroughfare. The Traffic Department has been requested to police compliance. Residents can report on non-compliance by phoning our 24/7 line: 016 360 7500.
