Beware of ‘Wrongturns’on train

“They even took a lady from a train and raped her in a veld in Kariba Street, Powerville,” Funda adds.

VEREENIGIGNG. – Vereeniging Police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda has warned people using trains against a group of boys calling themselves ‘Wrongturns.’

“This group consists of more or less 14 boys who are armed with pangas and knives. They enter the train coaches to rob people, push people out of moving trains or stab them.”
Funda adds that four cases have been reported already. “They even took a lady from a train and raped her in a veld in Kariba Street, Powerville,” Funda adds.
While a total of 34 people were arrested for various crimes last week, Vereeniging Police are also investigating a case of armed robbery.
This comes after two suspects entered a business in Beaconsfield Avenue and pointed a gun at the owner. They ordered her to go to the back of the office and tied her hands. The suspects took another four people who were coming in to do business to the back and tied them up as well.
They took their cellphones and managed to get away with an unspecified amount of money from the till. They fled in the car belonging to the business owner, Funda says, adding that there were no shots fired.
