Durban train accident leave 131 people injured

Over a hundred people have been injured after two passenger trains collided Head on south of Durban just after 3pm yesterday.

Over a hundred people have been injured after two passenger trains collided Head on south of Durban just after 3pm yesterday.

Rescue Care Paramedics, SAPS Search and Rescue, EMRS and several ambulances services worked on the scene in Swinton  Road to treat all of the injured. Injuries ranged from minor to moderate. Patients that able to walk were assisted up to Swinton Road whilst rescuers carried others that could not walk. Lines of ambulances could be seen down Swinton Road as the injured were brought up. The total count injured was 131 patients.

At this stage, it is unclear what caused the two passenger trains to collide however SAPS and Train officials were on scene and will be investigating further.
