Police to restore law and order

“Our crime stats show that something has evidently gone very wrong. It is really a slap in the face that there are so many of these criminals still roaming the streets.”

VEREENIGING. – South African Police Services (SAPS) in the Sedibeng region, together with various law enforcement departments, including the Department of Social Development and Home Affairs, last week carried out the ‘Sedibeng Cluster Sting Operation.’ The aim of the operation, which took place in Meyerton, Sebokeng, Evaton, Vanderbijlpark, Vereeniging, including other areas, was to lessen crime and increase police visibility in a bid to restore law and order.

During a parade at Vereeniging, Brigadier Pule Mokoena stated that there should not be so many criminals on our streets.
“Our crime stats show that something has evidently gone very wrong. It is really a slap in the face that there are so many of these criminals still roaming the streets.”
Mokoena urged the police to leave no stone unturned during the operation, making sure that all those involved in illegal dealings are brought to book.
“The community depends on you for protection against criminals.
“They are the ones who should be protected.” Following the parade, Police were divided into groups that would go to separate areas within the region.
Sebokeng Police spokesperson Captain Teboho Lephoto confirmed that the operation in its entirety was a success:
“Over 80 people were arrested for various crimes such as public violence, possession of drugs and house break-ins.”
