Vaal mourns Nyembezi Kunene

You were a great father and your teachings will live on, not only in your children's lives, but also in the lives of many your work and passion for the performing arts have changed. SEBOKENG. – Vaal’s own renowned  actor, director, playwright and producer Nyembezi Kunene will be missed by many.

This comes after Kunene (57), lost a long battle with diabetes on Saturday night. Many of his fans and loved ones took to social media to express their grief, this included his Son Sonqoba Kunene who paid his respects to his father, calling him a legend .

Sonqoba writes: A few hours ago, a legend departed this land.  The great Nyembezi Kunene – actor, director, playwright and producer, has passed on. Following a prolonged illness, Nyemza lost his battle with Diabetes and died peacefully at the Lesedi Hospital in Soweto, late on Saturday evening. He will be remembered for his many roles he played in various TV and Film productions in a career spanning well over three decades. May his soul Rest In Peace. You fought a great fight, a hero to the end. We will miss you Nyemza. This is the final curtain call, after decades spent entertaining South African audiences. Democratic Alliance MPL and Emfuleni Local Muncipality Mayoral candidate Kingsol Chabalala says, “I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Nyembezi Kunene.Kunene was a man of the Vaal, always putting Emfuleni first and showcasing the best talent we have to offer from our region. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and loved ones.”
