Cash-in-transit shakes Zone 14

SEBOKENG. – Police detectives of Sebokeng SAPS are investigating a case of a cash robbery that took place on Wednesday afternoon.

Police confirmed that the incident happened at U-Save Shoprite Store in Zone 14.

According to Sebokeng Police it is alleged that about ten armed men took part in the robbery. They forced their way in, held staff at gunpoint, seized money and fled the scene.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Teboho Lephoto confirms that the case is investigated by Sebokeng Police Detectives.

“It is alleged that about ten men held a security guard at gunpoint while he (the security guard) was collecting money from the store, and they then ordered him to open the door of a van, before they made away with an undisclosed sum of cash.”

He further stated that a security guard’s pistol was also taken by the suspects. Nobody was injured in the process and no shots were fired.

At this stage no suspects have been arrested and the Sebokeng Police are investigating a cash-in-transit case.Lieutenant Lephoto said Sebokeng SAPS appeals to the communities around Sebokeng for any information that might lead to arrests. “Illegal guns can be dangerous in the hands of criminals.”
