Vaal’s own ‘One Day Leader’ now a finalist

"It is not about your background, it is all about having the potential, passion and the skills. No one would have imagined a boy like me, from a township school entering a competition such as One Day Leader. So this should speak volumes in terms of the opportunities and possibilities out there."

SEDIBENG. –  “I am still trying to wrap my head around what happened. I am excited and nervous at the same time.” These are the words of the ‘seemingly over the moon’  contestant Sydney Madibo who exceeded his own expectations yesterday as he made it into the finals of the popular SABC1 show One Day Leader.

Madibo says he is thankful to have gotten to this crucial stage of the competition and urges the community and all his fans to carry on voting for him. “I want people to vote for me, not only because I am from the Vaal Triangle but because my work speaks for me.”

Madibo is an advocate for social change and hopes that one day he will be able to bring change in lives of young people by creating various platforms and opportunities. “It is not about your background, it is all about having the potential, passion and the skills. So this should speak volumes in terms of the opportunities and possibilities out there.”

Sydney Madibo is currently studying towards a BA Education degree and is also the Chairperson of the Campus Student Representative Council (CSRC) of the North-West University (NWU) Vaal Triangle Campus. Madibo completed his schooling at the  Thuto-Tiro Comprehensive School in Zone 10, Sebokeng.
