This week thousands of DA supporters will take to the streets of Nelson Mandela Bay and Johannesburg to march for CHANGE and in defence of the Constitution of South Africa.

We encourage South Africans from all walks of life to join us in defending and celebrating our Constitution. We need to stand together, hand-in-hand, to make it clear that we will not allow our hard-won democracy to be trampled on by Jacob Zuma and his ANC.

The ANC is taking South Africa in the wrong direction. Instead of firing Jacob Zuma for his role in the Nkandlagate scandal, they defended him. In doing so they violated our Constitution which so many South Africans died fighting for.

They have also unashamedly tried to throw our country’s national icon, Nelson Mandela, under the bus, by comparing Zuma’s actions to his. Both the ANC’s Deputy Minister of Justice, John Jeffreys, and the ANC’s Chief Whip, Jackson Mthembu, did so last week.

This shameful attempt to compare Jacob Zuma’s corruption to Tata Madiba’s term of office characterised by reconciliation and growth leaves the DA angry.

We cannot allow for this to continue any longer. We need to put our Constitution and country first again.

Our march will be used as a rallying point for all South Africans to help bring about the CHANGE we need to move South Africa forward again.

This is CHANGE that will create jobs, deliver better services and stop corruption.

The details of the march are as follows:

Date: Thursday, 14 April 2016

Time: 09h30

Venue: Outside of Part-time Mayor’s Office, Nelson Mandela Bay

Date: Friday, 15 April 2016

Time: 11h30

Venue: Constitutional Court of the Republic of South Africa, Johannesburg
