Redeployment not a result of ‘billing issues’

VEREENIGING. – Mr Yunus Chamda, Municipal Manager of Sedibeng District, told Vaalweekblad this week that his secondment to Emfuleni means that while he will still be officially a Sedibeng employee, he will be working at Emfuleni full-time for the period of his secondment and will focus on that job only.

He won’t be doing two jobs as such – just the one at Emfuleni during his secondment while someone will act in his place at Sedibeng District.
He said the Democratic Alliance’s speculation that Mr Sam Shabalala’s redeployment was a result of the “billing scandal” isn’t true as it was already coming before the billing issues emerged.

“It is really unfortunate that the billing issue is so politicized. The fact is that Mr Shabalala had initiated the investigations a long time ago.

It’s just that it has taken too long, and even now a few matters need to be finalised before it can be released or acted upon,” Mr Chamda said.
