Two killed, 18 injured after taxi rolls

"Two lifeless bodies were found on scene, a woman lying trapped in the front of the vehicle and another lying underneath the taxi. Unfortunately, both patients had already succumbed to their multiple fatal injuries prior to the arrival of paramedics. Nothing more could be done for the patients and they were declared dead on scene."

PARYS. – ER24 Spokeperson Russell Meiring has confirmed the death of two peole following an accident this morning outside Parys.

“18 others  were injured after a taxi rolled multiple times off the S254 Road.ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 08h00 after they were contacted by provincial services. On arrival, paramedics found a taxi lying upright amongst some bush off to the side of the road.”

Meiring states that reports from eyewitnesses on scene said that the taxi had apparently swerved to avoid a vehicle at a stop-and-go. The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle causing it roll into the bushes.

“Two lifeless bodies were found on scene, a woman lying trapped in the front of the vehicle and another lying underneath the taxi. Unfortunately, both patients had already succumbed to their multiple fatal injuries prior to the arrival of paramedics. Nothing more could be done for the patients and they were declared dead on scene.”

18 other patients were found on the scene , some of them critically injured. Paramedics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, they were transported to various hospitals for urgent treatment.

“One of the critically injured patient was later airlifted from Parys Hospital to a private hospital in Johannesburg by the ER24 Helicopter for urgent treatment.” concludes meiring adding that local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
