VANDERBIJLPARK. – Motorists were left in shock following a horrific accident in Frikkie Meyer Boulevard on Friday. The accident claimed one life and left four seriously injured.
According to police, a culpable homicide case was opened following the accident that involved four vehicles. It is said that a stationary minibus, with its side on the road and travelling in the direction of Sebokeng, was struck from behind by a Toyota Tazz which swerved and came to a standstill in the middle of the road. On witnessing the the accident the driver of a white Hyundai travelling in the direction of Vanderbijlpark made a U-turn to try and see if anyone was injured.
He parked his car on the side of the road and rushed to help. An oncoming green BMW hit the stationary Toyota Tazz before going straight into the back of the Hyundai. One person died on the scene while four people were transported to hospital. Family members on the scene were unable to speak to Sedibeng Ster. Police spokesperson Seargent Getrude Makhale confirms that a case of culpable homicide has been opened.
