She has since aimed high to do well in Maths, History, Life Orientation and Afrikaans: “I always listened and looked on how people lose some of their cases at the Magistrates Court. One has to understand the facts and be able to concentrate,” said Mokoena.

She said she really did not want to disappoint her parents and the community:
“Thanks that I have made both my parents and educators proud.
I am disappointed that I obtained only a B symbol in English. I am happy my name will be amongst those written in bold letters in the history of the Sedibeng West District of Education for 2014.”

The 19-year-old learner is gunning to study law at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Speaking about the examinations, she said it was not that easy:
“It took hard work and dedication. As it was my last year in grade 12, I had to sacrifice having fun with my friends.
Thank God, today I can proudly say my dream has come true. There’s no difference between a learner attending school on the farms to the one in the township or a model C student. The examination papers and the marking centre are the same.”

Jomo Seholoba, principal of the school said commitment – starting with the learners and educators, always bears sweet results. The school has sustained a 100% pass rate since 2014.
The school enrolment of 23 learners in 2015 obtained 13 distinctions.

Leading by example with 15 educators, Seholoba said, nothing could stand in their way. For the love of education, one educator had to teach two subjects in grade 12.
“Here there’s no head of department: we are all running the show. He thanks the department of education for providing transport for learners to attend extra classes.”

He said since 2014 Ramosukula has been number 1 in District West.
