RUST-TER-VAAL.- Following many hit-and-run incidents in the area, fed up Rus-ter-Vaal community members apparently assaulted the driver of a VW Jetta after the death of a 7-year-old boy in Magnolia Street recently.
It is said that the boy was killed when a group of children were playing at a nearby house when the boy for some reason ran outside. The driver of the vehicle that apparently collided with the child was assaulted by members of the community and his car severely damaged with rocks.
The driver was assessed by paramedics and later released to police on the scene. Shortly after paramedics arrived on the scene where they found the lifeless body of the little boy lying in the middle of the road. Paramedics from the provincial emergency medical services declared him dead. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is being investigated.
