Lekoelea holds his head high

“Soccer and community building are the things that I am involved in. I hope that the community at large will be able to learn from my mistake and verify things before they buy cars.”

SEBOKENG. – Former Orlando Pirates soccer star Steve ‘Chippa’ Lekoelea holds his head high after he was cleared of fraud charges of possession of a suspectedly stolen vehicle last week. This follows an appearance at the Vereeniging Magistrates Court where he was released because of lack of evidence.

Sedibeng Ster reported that the charges were brought against Lekoelea last week after he was stopped and arrested by police in Orange Farms when he was driving a vehicle which was said to have had a fake licence disc and a fake licence plate.
“The police did not really inform me what exactly I was being charged with. I bought the car in December from a person I know and trusted as I really needed a car at the time. I did not even think that something like this would happen to me.”
Lekoelea says that he fears that through the arrest reports he has disappointed the young kids that look up to him including his fans at large. “Although I am innocent, people who look up to me were still disappointed when they heard what had happened. I hope they will be able to forgive me as this was just a big misunderstanding,” said Lekoelea. He adds that he has never been involved in anything shady:
“Soccer and community building are the things that I am involved in. I hope that the community at large will be able to learn from my mistake and verify things before they buy cars.”
