VANDERBIJLPARK. – One of two housebreaking suspects was out on parole after serving a sentence – also for housebreaking. He was supposed to only be released in 2019, but he is back in the court again for the same crime.

The suspect and his accomplice are facing charges of housebreaking, theft and possession of the stolen goods. They were arrested recently. It is alleged that the suspects were followed by a member of the public who suspected that they were up to no good. While they were followed, they were seen jumping the wall to a house in Burchell Street, Vanderbijlpark.

Police were alerted and rushed to the scene. Upon seeing the police the suspects tried to jump out of the yard but it was too late. The suspects were arrested on the scene. The police asked the neighbour to call the owners of the house to come and see if anything was missing from their home.

Police communication officer Sergeant Gertrude Makhale said the owner confirmed and identified the goods that were found in possession of the suspects.
The suspects briefly appeared in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court. The matter was postponed for further investigation and for possible bail application.
