VANDERBIJLPARK. – Horse racing enthusiasts needn’t be concerned about travelling all the way to Durban for this year’s Vodacom Durban July. Emerald Resort & Casino’s Sport Bar will be broadcasting all nine feature races on the day and visitors can now place bets on all the races with the newly installed TAB betting station. There is no entrance fee or charge for this promotion.

The R3.5million, Grade 1, Vodacom Durban July horse-race on 4 July 2015 is Africa’s richest race. It draws over 55 000 spectators to the racecourse and is probably the biggest single betting day on the continent. The race, which was first run in 1897, takes place every year at Greyville Racecourse over a distance of 2200m. “This year is the first time that we have a TAB betting station installed at Sports Bar for the convenience of our guests,” says Tanuja Gangabishun, Marketing Executive at Emerald Resort & Casino. “With the high definition big screen and the many smaller screens all around the Sports Bar, you won’t miss any of the race day action.”

The Vodacom Durban July is well known for attracting celebrities, socialites, fashionistas and followers of fashion and Sports Bar will be no different as Emerald Resort & Casino will be having lucky draws and giveaways during the day and a prize for the best dressed person or couple. “Racing in Durban starts before midday and continues into the night under floodlights, allowing plenty of leisure time for our guests within Sports Bar to experience ‘Durban July’ fever locally,” concludes Tanuja. Sports Bar is a unique smoking venue where guests can experience live action sport on state of the art video and audio, combined with gaming on six slot machines. Entrance is free to the venue which now offers betting across multiple sport platforms with TAB, which includes rugby and soccer. This action bar is fully licensed and offers a varied selection of food. Operating hours are from 10h00 until midnight and reservations can be made on 016 982 8236. Sports Bar is a strictly over 18 venue.
