High five for Paws on the Pavement

MEYERTON. – The Paws on the Pavement Dog Walk, presented by the SPCA Vereeniging/Meyerton was held on May 1 at the Midvaal Sport & Conference Centre.

“The funds raised from this fundraising initiative will be put into good use this month, providing care and assistance to many needy animals in our district,” says SPCA manager Marlien Pieterse.“As you know we get no funding from the government and in order to keep our doors open and our wheels turning we fundraise through events like these to make ends meet.”

As a non-profit organisation they totally  rely upon the goodwill of the community, businesses, suppliers, supporters and volunteers to make these
fundraisers a success.

“We would like to give a ‘paw felt’ thanks to our community, businesses, suppliers, supporters and volunteers for their kindness and assistance with this fundraising initiative which certainly helped make the day a success. “We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your participation,” says Marlien. For the SPCA staff it was fabulous to see so many happy, healthy animals in one place whilst their owners were walking around proudly, presenting them to the public.

This sort of loving kindness to animals give the SPCA staff motivation to face their daily tasks.“This highlights the fact that the community supports and recognises our daily efforts, even though it sometimes feels like a thankless task,” concludes Marlien.
