VEREENIGING.- The longest running jazz festival in the country, The Jazz by the River Festival, is back by popular demand and is set to blow away patriots with its star-studded musical line up. Last year the event attracted over 7000 festival goers from and outside of the Vaal and is expected
to accommodate an influx for its 27th anniversary.
The event returns to the Dickson Park, in Vereeniging on Sunday, 5 October with gates opening at 10:00 AM and proceedings beginning
at 12:00. Event organiser, One Big Entertainment, has pulled together a potent line up which includes legendary multi-award- winning Jazz musician
Tshepo Tshola, Songbird Brenda Mtambo, Afro soul musician, Berita, Music duo, Jeziel Brothers, afro pop music group, Encore, Jazz guitarist
Billy Monama, Jazz Musician Lindiwe Maxolo, Afro Soul Musican, Semito and many more. With September month being aTourism and Heritage
month, festival goers are encouraged to a picnic by the river with baskets, camps chairs, umbrellas and braai stands while being mesmerised
by the soothing sounds of Classic Jazz, New-age Jazz and Afro Soul.
“Jazz by the River Festival is one of the first festivals known in the country, therefore, it is correct to call it the heritage of Mzantsi, and that’s why
people have demanded it back. “The atmosphere is always marvelous to witness,” says Khulu Malindi, CEO of One Big Entertainment.
