“I’m very excited to retain my title and I’m confident that I will make history to keep this IBO bantamweight title and write history for myself. It wasn’t an easy fight though we came to the fight with a plan on how we were going to defeat him. But I must say – this was the toughest opponent for me and this is typical of Argentina’s boxers and how they fight. They are persistent, to say the least,” said Buthelezi.

The first to congratulate Buthelezi was Bongani Mahlangu who was full of praise for his close friend. The two grew up together in Boipatong as boxers.”I must say, I’m very happy for Gideon because he following on the foot-steps of local boxing greats such as Carlton “Swing Carlies” Monnakgotla, Shole “Tiger Floor” Mokoena, Shamba Mthimkhulu, Baby Lux Khambula and many others,” said Mahlangu
