Dedication honored at VUT

Many staff members receive Long-Service Awards

VANDERBIJLPARK. – .The Vaal University of Technology recently held its annual Long-Service Awards at the Desmond Tutu Great Hall on campus.
The Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Irene Moutlana gave a congratulatory message to the recipients and thanked them for their efforts in making VUT a better place: “We have come to honour, acknowledge and to give thanks to the stalwarts of this institution of whom I am very proud to be associated. They are like family,” she said.
Among the recipients were: Ms Sandra Hugo (35 years), Ms Emily Nana (35 years) and Dr Jan Smit (35 years).
A “WOW” awards ceremony, dedicated to research award recipients, research excellence award recipients and dedication award recipients as nominated by their peers, was also held.
Professor Moutlana encouraged the recipients to pass on the dedication they have to the next generation of employees in various departments.
“Your long and hard hours of labour have been invaluable and I trust that you have set the example for many more employees to share in your dedication and commitment and to follow in your footsteps,” she said.
The audience was entertained by the choral/opera musical group, The Vaalians.
