Vaal cops tie the knot in style

The newly weds say their relationship is however not centered around their careers. “When we are home, we are parents and partners, we are not cops.”

DE DEUR. – It was nothing short of a fairytale when family, friends and colleagues came to witness two Vaal cops committing to spend their lives together.

After spending a decade together, Sergeant Tshepiso Tsiame (46) and Constable Nelisile Khumalo (37) put their uniforms aside and opted for a suit and a white gown in celebration of what they have been able to build over the years.

In what he called an event that went beyond his expectations, Tsiame kept a promise he made to Nelisile. Speaking to Ster North, Tsiame said their relationship started in 2013 while they were both going through life’s struggles.

“At the time, I was not employed and neither was my partner. We knew that we wanted to be together so we made it work despite the challenges we faced. Both our families were a great support system and supported us without passing any judgement.”

Nelisile said although her husband was already a trained police officer when they met, she never thought that she would also become an officer of the law.
“I used to apply for various posts without any luck. It was very hard but I dusted myself and started a small business so that we could survive.”

“I was pleasantly surprised when I got accepted into the SAPS training academy in 2017 and subsequently started working.”

The couple said that their things started falling into place after Nelisiwe got appointed and Tsiame also started working as a police officer.

Speaking about the tedious task of planning a wedding, Tsiame said he was grateful for his wife as she did everything so effortlessly and made it seem easy, even though it was not.

The newly weds say their relationship is however not centered around their careers. “When we are home, we are parents and partners, we are not cops.”

The couple has thanked everyone who was part of the celebration and made their day special.
