VEREENIGING. – Scenes of a multiple-vehicle collision left the Vereeniging fraternity shocked this afternoon. The incident happened on Voortrekker Road in Vereeniging.
On arrival at the scene, Sedibeng Ster found that a truck as well as several vehicles were involved in the collision.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, a bystander on the scene said that one of the vehicles hit an electrical box, causing it to burst into flames.
The police, fire brigade, and Gauteng Emergency Services were at the scene.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Emfuleni Local Municipality’s Chuchi Radebe said the Fire Department responded to a distress call at 12h07
“A team was dispatched and upon arrival, one light passenger vehicle was overturned, two were damaged on the side by a truck.”
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed the incident: “Police have opened a case of culpable homicide after one person burned inside a car that was involved in an accident.”
Masondo said an investigation is underway to establish what and who caused an accident.
