SEBOKENG.- Vaal Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex (LGBTI) embarked on a pride march awareness campaign recently.

This 8th annual pride awareness campaign started at Evaton Mall to the Evaton Lifestyle where the main event took place with speeches. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Moeketsi Zimba who was part of the organisers said this is an annual campaign to create awareness as far as crime is concerned in the community. Zimba said the Vaal is a hot spot for crime and so much has happened in this region the past three years.

He said they decided to come up with this idea to organise a pride campaign in an attempt to create awareness. He said they invited other organisations as far as Bophelong and Boitshepiville to be part of this campaign.

“As Vaal LGBTI Organisation we are dealing with a lot of things like case monitoring among other things. We sit down and have a planning session on how can we help our community with their challenges, especially crime.”

“The event was a great success and we want to thank every individual who came to support this initiative. I have no doubt that everyone went benefited from what the speakers shared with them on the day especially appreciating each other as individual. What is more important is to accept other for who and what they are,” he told Sedibeng Ster.
