Much has been said and written about sport facilities in Sedibeng. Zakes’ Sports Corner feels that there is an urgent need for the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, to visit Sedibeng.
Zakes’ Sports Corner will write an invitation letter to invite the minister to come and witness the kind of facilities we have in this region. Zakes’ Sports Corner can promise you; he is not going to be happy.
There is so many issues that need to be addressed regarding the development of sports in this region. The sport facilities should be on top of the agenda!
For years now, Zakes’ Sports Corner (formerly Shooting from the Hip, Sports Beat and TOUCHLINE) tried to address the issue regarding facilities in our community but with no luck.
Zakes’ Sports Corner believe that there is a serious need for the minister to embark on a roadshow to visit all the provinces, especially local municipalities to check the state of our facilities. Sedibeng has it bad when it comes to sport facilities despite all the talent we have in this region.
Call him motor-mouth or lepantiti, but compared to the other ministers, he is the man with big plans for the development of sport in this country.
The man is all over the place trying to fix the “leaking” roof in the development of our sports, especially in the poorest communities.
Zakes’ Sports Corner want to take this opportunity to extend an invitation to the minister to visit the Sedibeng region. The conditions of our facilities have left much to be desired, with some of the sporting facilities in the communities turned into a white elephant.
The only sporting facilities we have in this region are private owned facilities that are far away from the community. This is a serious concern to say the least.
Zakes’ Sports Corner writes week after week and year after year about the same issue: facilities! This is because of the conditions that our young athletes have to experience when they compete. The only time the municipality will maintain the sporting facilities in this region is when they host big events.
Dear Minister of Sports, your visit will be highly appreciated for the sake of the development of sport in this region. Minister, I think you will agree with Zakes’ Sports Corner that Sedibeng is one of the best regions when it comes to sports, producing great administrators and athletes. Stats don’t lie!
