The SPCA requests the public to make their bookings in advance as they have limited space. Also, keep the following in mind:
* NO dog or cat will be accepted for boarding unless they are fully vaccinated and proof of this is produced.
* Bring something that smells of home when you check your animals in. They provide all the
bedding and food but the dogs and cats settle down if they have something that reminds them of home in their kennel. They prefer an old blanket or a jersey. Mark it so it doesn’t get lost! * If you are bringing your own food please do not get upset if they give you most of your food back when you collect your animals. “People get so upset because they think we did not feed the animals but in truth some animals just stop eating and then we employ a few methods of our own to get them to eat. We provide them with alternatives and watch them closely to see that they do finally succumb to the food,” they explain. It is NOT in their best interest to send a thin animal home or even have one starve in their kennels so please try to understand! Sometimes they even go so far as to provide a home cooked meal – in the end all the animals in their care do eat.
* If you book for a certain period you will pay for that entire period in advance. If you decide to collect your animal earlier than agreed we do not refund any money as we could have given that kennel to another booking if the arrangements were made in advance. Please understand you pay per day at the kennels and even if you fetch your pets early in the morning you will still pay for that day. Their rates are very reasonable and boarding provides them with an income to support all the other animals in their care, don’t begrudge them that money.
* Provide them with alternative contact numbers in case of emergency and your veterinarian’s details.
