Former Pirates star hails Sharpeville-born sensation

Mofokeng scored a goal during the first leg of the MTN8 Cup Semi-Final between Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City yesterday, Wednesday.

SEDIBENG.- Former Orlando Pirates footballer, Lehlohonolo Majoro has hailed Relebohile Mofokeng as the best man standing in South African football.

Majoro was talking to Sedibeng Ster Sport during the MTN8 Media Trophy Tour at the MooiVaal Media office in Vanderbijlpark on Wednesday (August 27). Majoro told Sedibeng Ster Sport that it will be great for Mofokeng to receive the award as the MTN8 Player of the Tournament.

Mofokeng started the season on fire when he scored his first CAF goal for Orlando Pirates, much to the delight of his mother who was trending on social media celebrating her son’s goal.

Majoro believes that this Sharpeville-born soccer sensation has what it takes to become the MTN8 Player of the Tournament for 2024.

“It will be good for Mofokeng to be MTN8 Player of the Tournament, especially coming from Vaal. The boy is amazing and I have no doubt that he is going places. My wish is to see him be the MTN8 Last Man Standing. Mofokeng is the best thing that recently happened in South African football, especially for Bafana Bafana. I can only wish him all the best for the rest of his football career, because he is the future of our country,” said Majoro.

Mofokeng started his amateur football career on the dusty soccer grounds in Sharpeville playing for Celeb Youth Academy. This was before he joined School of Excellence where Orlando Pirates spotted his incredible talent. His father, Sechaba “Pizepe” Mofokeng was also a prolific soccer player during his playing days.
