Search ends as Reza’s body is recovered from the Vaal Dam

Reza described as loving, intelligent and passionate about the upliftment of those in need.

VAAL MARINA. – The search for 18-year-old Reza Saloojee has come to a tragic end after his body was recovered from the Vaal Dam this afternoon.

Saloojee went missing on Sunday (August 11) after he went fishing with family members.

The search ends on the third day after its launch at the Boschkop Fishing Resort.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster on Monday (August 12), Father Bilal Saloojee said all he prayed for was that his son be found. Saloojee described Reza as a loving child who was excelling at school.

“He was very passionate about the upliftment of people. That was my son, he always believed that one needs to stand up for what is right and help those in need.”

Vaal Marina SAPS spokesperson Constable Tshilidzi De Huis confirms that the body was recovered from the Vaal Dam.

“The deceased was found by SAPS divers inside the Vaal Dam. An inquest case docket is open for investigation.”
