Popular radio presenter arrested on rape charges

A popular radio presenter is set to appear at Vereeniging Magistrates Court on Wednesday, June 10 following his arrest on a rape charge.

SEDIBENG – The Vaal’s airwaves were hit with a scandal as a beloved radio personality, known for his steamy midnight shows, found himself behind bars on shocking rape charges.

The KHD presenter, who formerly graced Thetha FM, allegedly assaulted his 19-year-old niece in a horrifying incident that has left the community in disbelief.

Sources close to the investigation reveal that the presenter was arrested on Monday, June 8.

A trusted source speaking to Sedibeng Ster, who has asked to remain anonymous to protect the victim’s identity, shared disturbing details of the crime.

“The radioman, who is the victim’s uncle, fetched her from her family home under the pretense of visiting with other cousins. When she arrived at his house, no other relatives were present as planned. She borrowed a phone to call them and was told they weren’t visiting that day,” the source explained.

In a sinister turn of events, the trusted uncle allegedly manipulated the situation to assault the young woman.

“He told her the bedroom he had prepared for her was cold and offered to share his bed. He then started touching her and raped her,” the spokesperson disclosed.

KHD swiftly addressed the scandal, issuing a statement on their social media platforms.

Station Manager Lehlohonolo Menyatso said, “We are aware of the troubling incident involving one of our employees, *** ****. He has been placed on immediate unpaid leave pending the investigation’s outcome. We take these allegations very seriously and will take appropriate actions based on law enforcement’s findings.”

Menyatso emphasized the station’s commitment to maintaining a safe environment, stating, “Our organization has a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of misconduct and domestic violence.”

Sedibeng District police spokesman Captain Fikile Funda confirmed the arrest. “We can confirm a case of rape was opened and a suspect is in custody. He will be appearing at Vereeniging Magistrates Court soon,” Funda said.
