Love or hate it …’Kasi’ football is more entertaining

Kasi football has restored that culture of entertaining football with soccer fans being in love with these community soccer tournaments.

SEDIBENG.- Whether you love or hate it, ‘kasi’ football is more entertaining compared to the so called formal or structured football.

The truth is that, this is the only platform where players are allowed to expressed themselves. In fact, they are given a freedom to express their God given talent which is something soccer fans enjoy. This is not the case when watching PSL games and no wonder our stadiums are empty because this is not the type of football the fans want.

In the past, soccer fans used to pack the Ellis Park, Orlando, Kings Park and HM Pitje Stadiums to capacity to watch entertaining football. This was before our football players were turned into ‘robots’ by European coaches who came to coach in South Africa in numbers. However, Zakes’ Sports Corner must mention that there are those European coaches who would allow our local players to express themselves.

They was a few of them and Coach Ted Dumitru was one of them.

For example, teams like Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows were known for entertaining soccer fans with the best players in the country. Gone are those days when these above-mentioned teams’ supporters used to fill the stadium to capacity. Kasi football has restored that culture of entertaining football with soccer fans being in love with these community soccer tournaments.

Point in case, the Pooe Festival Soccer Tournament, and the UK Soccer Tournament are two popular kasi soccer tournaments. These tournaments attract a massive crowd for obvious reason, they enjoy “kasi flavour”, otherwise known as ‘diski nine’. This is the kind of football that soccer fans want to see in the PSL but because of the ‘winning at all cost mentality’ players are denied the opportunity to express themselves.

Zake’s Sports Corner has been told many times that football is all about business.

Unfortunately, Zakes’ Sports Corner is not subscribed to this theory that football is all about business. My understanding is that football is all about entertainment.

Where Kasi football is played is the best place to be, especially at this time of the season with PSL teams on off season.

Zakes’s Sports Corner is not a good fan of Kasi Football, but I really enjoy when players are given freedom to express themselves.
