Itireleng Parks Team still committed to change Boipatong

We want to promote the spirit of care for our township and encourage the community to keep their area clean.

BOIPATONG.- The Itireleng Parks Team’s commitment to change the Boipatong townships is there for everyone to see.

This teams is cleaning the township and has turned the dumping places into community parks. The team was established in 2020 during the nationwide lockdown with the main purpose being to turn the township to be one of the best environmentally. The whole Boipatong community has rallied behind this team in support of their initiative to change this historical township.

The township is one of the historical township affected by the Massacre where men and women were killed in 1992.  This week the team was busy cleaning the duping places in the community.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, the team’s leader, Parks Mofokeng said that when they started, there were eleven members with only one woman in the midst of the men. Mofokeng said now they have sixteen members including women’ which is something that they should be proud of.

“When we started this team, the aim was and still is to turn our township to be one of the best. We want to promote the spirit of care for our township and encourage community members to keep their area clean. It has been four years of commitment to clean the Boipatong township, schools, clinics and homes of the elderly people. We want to thank Cape Gate for been helpful providing us with tools among other things.”

Mofokeng pleaded with the businesses community and companies to donate tools in the form of shovels among others so that they can doa  proper job for the community.
