You like being abused: Msimanga

“If you go back to the ruling party this time around, you like to be abused."

EVATON. – The DA leadership held a community meeting at ‘Dinkung’ in Kanana on Thursday afternoon.

The meeting was attended by the party’s big wigs that including DA Chairperson, John Steenhuisen, Gauteng DA Premier-elect, Solly Msimanga, Midvaal Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Peter Teixeira, DA Emfuleni North Constituency Head, Kingsol Chabalala and DA Sedibeng Region Leader, Prudence Hlanyane.

The main issues addressed were a lack of service delivery, unemployment, and corruption. During his address, Teixeira told the community that their living conditions could improve if and when they voted for the DA.

“Your situation could be the same as your neighbours in Midvaal, yours is just to make the right mark. Give the DA a chance for the next five years and you will see that you have made the right choice. You will see that you would have made your life easier. Your living conditions will improve, your children will have jobs, and your roads will be as smooth as your neighbours’,” said Teixeira referring to Midvaal.

Msimanga said that those who keep voting for the ruling party are like an abused woman who keeps going back to a man who abuses her, only for that man to keep on abusing her after saying sorry numerous times.

“If you go back to the ruling party this time around, you like to be abused. They say they will take Gauteng through the Vaal vote, through your votes, we need you to prove them wrong. Let’s bring change to the area by voting these people off and voting the DA in,” Msimanga said.

In his speech, Steenhuisen also emphasised the need for change.

“Democrats the time for change is now. They might give you grants, and accept them. They might give you food parcels, eat them. They might throw t-shirts at you, use them, but remember that the only party that can bring you change is the DA,” he said.
