St. Bonaventure Skills and Training Centre opened

The St. Bonaventure Skills and Training Centre is a registered welfare organisation that has been operational. Since last year, the centre has provided skill training to 35 people.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- The official opening of the Centre was blessed and opened by Emeritus Archbishop William Slattery recently.

The St. Bonaventure Skills and Training Centre, built and equipped with private funds, aims to provide much-needed basic skills for unemployed youth. The skills offered at the centre include Carpentry and Joinery, welding, farming, and sewing.

Their plans include expanding the offerings.

Adele Andrews, the Chairperson of St. Bonaventure Skills and Training Development Centre, mentioned that the centre is located on the grounds of the La Verna Retreat Centre, adjacent to the Vaal Barrage. The St. Bonaventure Skills and Training Centre is a registered welfare organisation that has been operational. Since last year, the centre has provided skill training to 35 people. Finances for ongoing expenses are supported by minimal fees and by selling some of the products produced in the centre.

The Board of the Centre is actively seeking funding from commercial enterprises and private donors. There is also an opportunity to sponsor students attending one of the six-month programs.
