Taxi knocks down man to death
The man tried to cross to the other side while avoiding oncoming traffic but he was unfortunately hit by another taxi.
SEBOKENG. – A case of Culpable Homicide is being investigated after a man was knocked down by a local taxi in Zone 7, Sebokeng on Saturday evening.
Eyewitnesses said that a seemingly intoxicated elderly man was trying to cross the road while trying to avoid a taxi when he was knocked by another one coming from a different direction.
“It is a sad tale indeed, the man tried to cross to the other side while avoiding oncoming traffic but he was unfortunately hit by another taxi,” said an eyewitness.
Police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi said that at about 19:30 Evaton Police received a complaint of an accident and when they proceeded to the scene, upon their arrival they were met by the taxi driver who explained to them that the deceased was crossing the road north to south.
“He then bumped into him. The deceased was certified dead by emergency services on the scene.”
A case of culpable homicide was opened by Evaton police.
