Two suspects nabbed for possession of illegal firearms

The District Commissioner of Sedibeng SAPS, General Nkhensani Lemba congratulated members on a job well executed.

SEDIBENG. – The police in Sedibeng nabbed two suspects in Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark while conducting crime prevention duties recently.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda confirmed that a 33-year-old suspect was arrested in Vereeniging for discharging a firearm in a public place, illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm, and illegal possession of live ammunition.

“In Vanderbijlpark, a 36-year-old suspect was arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.”

Operations were conducted in the Vereeniging, Evaton, and Vanderbijlpark policing precincts respectively.

Police conducted stop and searches, hotspot patrols, vehicle testing, and premises inspections.

The District Commissioner of Sedibeng SAPS, General Nkhensani Lemba congratulated members on a job well executed.

“It is this partnership between the police and communities that will see the community of Sedibeng feel safe,” Lemba stated.
