SPCA saves cute pups and goslings

VEREENIGING. - There are uplifting moments in the realm of animal rescue, and last Friday brought such joy to local SPCA inspectors as they successfully saved two adorable Egyptian goslings in distress.

“After a thorough examination by a veterinarian, we opted to ensure their complete recovery before reintroducing them to the wild.

“These little ones are currently under the care of a reputable rehabilitation and release center, where they will receive the necessary attention to flourish and rejoin their feathered companions in the great outdoors,” states Marlien de Klerk manager of the Vereeniging/Vanderbijlpark SPCAs.

In addition to the goslings, a heartwarming rescue involved a litter of baby mice, affectionately referred to as pups.

Yes, even mice deserve the right to live! Baby mice, known as pups, are born deaf and blind, with an average litter size of 10 to 12.

The rescued litter captivated the hearts of SPCA staff, who couldn’t resist falling in love with their tiny squeaks and wiggly noses.

The inspectors were so enamored that they all expressed a desire to adopt one of these adorable pups.

However, recognising the need for specialised care, the little fur balls are now under the watchful care of a reputable rehabilitation center.

Here, they will receive the necessary attention until they mature enough to be released back into the wild.

A baby mouse is called a pup.

This reaffirms the indispensable role of the SPCA in our community. Your support is crucial for them to continue championing the cause of animals in distress.

If you ever come across wildlife in need, do not hesitate to reach out. Contact the Vereeniging office at 016 422 1505 or 083 292 5862 after hours.

“Every action counts, and together we can make a difference,” emphasises Marlien.

If financial assistance is not feasible for you, consider collecting empty ice cream buckets and dropping them off at the Vereeniging SPCA.

Additionally, they are always in need of cat and dog food, blankets, Karbadust, and cleaning agents.
