Sasol spreads festive spirit in Metsimaholo

“We see ourselves as a force for good towards the important aim to ensure no-one is left behind,” said Head of Community Affairs at Sasol’s Sasolburg and Ekandustria Operations.

SASOLBURG – On Tuesday 5 December 2023 Sasol brought joy, excitement and hope to less fortunate children in Metsimaholo with its annual Festive Drive.

This was made possible through a Sasol for Good volunteerism programme that allows Sasol employees to make a difference in the lives of children in the community around the Sasol operations in Sasolburg.

This year 233 orphaned and vulnerable children from children’s homes, shelters, and care centres received toys donated by Sasol employees.

The benefiting organisations are Phela O Phedise, Engo boys and girls, Dintle Diketso, Kamohelo, Iketsetseng and Leratong.

Head of Community Affairs at Sasol’s Sasolburg and Ekandustria Operations, Thuli Mbuli said spreading joy during the Festive Season is a privilege and their duty as community members where most of these children come from dysfunctional circumstances and challenging backgrounds where the joy experienced during the Festive Season is unknown.

“At Sasol, we encourage our employees to get involved in their communities by volunteering their time, skills and resources through company and employee-initiated social development causes,” she said.

Mbuli added “By doing so we leverage our employees’ considerable, diverse abilities and expertise as volunteers in causes that empower fenceline communities and co-create sustainable livelihoods.  Through these programmes employees are enriched with a greater understanding of community issues, making them advocates on these issues.”

“We see ourselves as a force for good towards the important aim to ensure no-one is left behind,” said Mbuli.
