Special prayer service held for CPWs

Hlanyane stated that people no longer respect or appreciate the noble profession of law enforcement.

VANDERBIJLPARK. – The Quest Conference Hall was green during a prayer service for the Sedibeng Crime Prevention Wardens (CPW) on Wednesday, 8 November.

The service follows the death of a CPW stationed in Orange Farm, Jabulani Gininda who was shot and killed while on duty during October. Various religious organisations, government officials and stakeholders attended.

Speaking during the prayer ceremony, Bishop Moeketsi said that the work of law enforcement officials takes a toll on them and their loved ones. He said that many are often killed while on duty.

“Being a police officer was once a respected profession, but today many die senselessly while on duty. The purpose of today’s prayer is to keep all law enforcement officials safe.”

Moeketsi urged the CPWs to take pride in their jobs and trust in God’s protection.

Archbishop Hlanyane asked those who attended the special prayer to pray for the law enforcement officials, as their jobs always put their lives at stake. Hlanyane stated that people no longer respect or appreciate the noble profession of law enforcement.

Brave men and women are putting their lives at risk on a daily basis to answer the call to serve and protect.”
