Trail runners to head for the hills

This exciting trail race will take place early in December at Klipskuur.

The hills will come alive on Saturday 2 December 2023 when the Vaal Athletic Club’s trail running division, The Klipspringers, hosts the second annual The Vaal Has Hills Trail Run.

As was the case with last year’s inaugural race, the event will take place at Klipskuur on Rietfontein Farm near Heidelberg.

This year’s event will feature races over 25km, 13km and 7.5km. These races will start at 05:30, 06:00 and 06:15 respectively.

As the name suggests, this will be a challenging and hilly trail run.

To avoid plastic pollution and keep the venue clean, the race will be a self-supported trail run and hydration packs (CamelBaks) are therefore essential. Prior to the 25km event the race organisers will conduct a compulsory gear check to ensure that everyone is sufficiently geared up.

Prize money will be awarded to the first three male and female competitors who finish the 25km race.

There are limited entries, so make sure you enter as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!

The entry fee for the 25km is R350, while the entry fee for the 13km is R250 and the entry fee for the 7.5km is R150.

Online entries close 1 December at 12:00. Race numbers can be collected at the venue from 04:00 a.m. on race day.
