Successful ‘women in construction’ conference

The National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) announced its plans to open an office in Vereeniging.

VEREENIGING.- The recent ‘Sedibeng Women in Business Conference’ for women in the construction industry, held at the Vereeniging Civic Theatre, was a resounding success.

Organised by the Khutlo Tharo Skills and Business Agency in collaboration with The South African Women in Construction (SAWIC) Gauteng Chapter, the conference aimed to bring together women in the construction field to celebrate Heritage Month while emphasising the values of construction and property development.

Rakgadi Seetsi, Director of Khutlo Tharo Skills and Business Agency, expressed gratitude to various entities and individuals for their support in making the conference a success. Partners and sponsors included the Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM) LED Department, Councillor Zaza Raikane, Moladi Technology, Eco-rubber, SA Women in Plumbing, NHBRC GEP, Hydroform, Gauteng Provincial Treasury, Malitech Engineering, Vaal United Business Forum, and Soweto Business Access.

Seetsi stressed the importance of women’s active participation in the construction industry, moving beyond visibility to become active contributors. She encouraged women from all over Sedibeng, including Devon, Heidelberg, Midvaal, and Emfuleni, to become involved. One of the conference’s key objectives was to include young women in the construction business.

Meanwhile, the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) announced its plans to open an office in Vereeniging, eliminating the need for women to travel to Pretoria to obtain the necessary documents for their building projects. This development aims to streamline and simplify the process for women in construction, making it more accessible and convenient.
