BOIPATONG. – A suspect was arrested last week after he was found in possession of over 400 sachets of crystal meth and mandrax.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Themebeka Maxambela reports that Sedibeng Cluster SAPS was carrying out the weekly installment of Operation Shanela when they received intelligence about a suspected drug dealer in the vicinity.

“Police acted on information received from reliable sources and members of the neighborhood watch. On arrival at the identified house in Tshepiso Phase 5, a suspect was arrested after he was found to have 290 sachets of crystal meth and 160 sachets of mandrax.”

Maxambela states that the operation resulted in multiple arrests of undocumented immigrants and suspects operating scrap yards without valid documentation.

“A roadblock was activated where about 711 people were searched. A total of 199 vehicles were tested, and 285 vehicles were searched.

“Second-hand dealers were visited for compliance and 3 scrapyards were closed down and suspects arrested and charged with failure to register scrapyard,” Maxambela concludes.
