Metsimaholo RDP beneficiaries receive title deeds

MEC for Cogta and Human Settlement, Ketso “Toto” Makume delivers more than 2000 title deeds to homeowners.

SASOLBURG.- Following the department of Free State Human Settlement’s promise to citizens that land tenure shall be secured and the title deeds backlog will be unlocked, the MEC for Cogta and Human Settlement, Ketso “Toto” Makume handed over 2000 title deeds to rightful beneficiaries of the RDP houses in Metsimaholo Municipality.

The handing over took place at the Multipurpose Sports Centre in Sasolburg, on September 8.

The MEC was accompanied by Executive Mayor of Fezile Dabi District Municipality, Cllr Dennis Khasudi, MLM Council Speaker, Cllr Lucas Fisher, MLM Council Whip, Cllr Fikile Mosokweni, Fezile Dabi Municipal Manager, Sipho Thomas and Officials from different government organisations.

MEC Makume said a title deed is proof of ownership of an asset that must be handed over to future generations.

“I discourage people who sell their houses after receiving their title deeds.”

As enshrined within Chapter 2 of our Constitution which states that everyone has, among others; the rights to adequate housing (Housing: 26, Chapter 2: Bill of Rights).”

The handing over of title deeds and houses accentuates the departments’ commitment to ensuring access to adequate houses and security of tenure.”
