Kyokushin Karte Club brings home medals

"When we received the invitation, I was confident that we would make our presence felt at the tournament."

SEBOKENG.- Kyokushin Karate Club from Zone 3, Sebokeng brought home medals after conquering a Karate Tournament held in Johannesburg on Saturday.

The tournament was held under the auspices of the International Kyokushin Karate Federation of South Africa. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Kyokushin Karate Club Sensei, Papi Mokoena said he is proud of what his team achieved on the day.

Lehlohonolo Mbongngo was crowned the champion in the 25kg division, while Joseph Mokoena was crowned the champion in the under 70kg division. Tloisang Lepota secured the third position in the 60kg division, with Kgothatso Machobane finishing second in the 55kg division. Nkosinati Mokoena competed in the under 70kg division, and Karabo Mofokeng added to the number of medals when he came third in the 55kg division.

Mokoena told Sedibeng Ster Sport that they were well-prepared for the tournament, and the medals were there for everyone to see.

“We had a great tournament, and I must say I’m proud of our boys and girls for the fighting spirit they demonstrated. We were prepared for this tournament, and all the fighters worked hard during training to get ready for it,” he concluded.
