Master Zondo Sports Foundation launches U/11 Diski Challenge

Sixteen teams from Evaton, Sebokeng, and Boitshepiville Stream under the Emfuleni Local Football Association (ELFA) took part in the tournament.

SEBOKENG.- The Master Zondo Sports Foundation has introduced the Master Zondo Ke Yona U/11 Diski Challenge which came to an end on Sunday.

The tournament started on 16 July with the finals taking place this past Sunday.

This tournament saw sixteen teams from Evaton, Sebokeng, and Boitshepiville Stream under the Emfuleni Local Football Association (ELFA) taking part in it. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Zondo said that the tournament was played in all areas of Emfuleni streams with the first round of the tournament taking place in Evaton, the second round played in Sebokeng, and the third leg being played at Boitshepiville.

Zondo said the main aim of the tournament was to bring excitement within the development league.

“I’m looking forward to hosting another division’s tournament the same as this one, and I must say, I was overwhelmed by the talent that was on display from day one until the last day of the tournament. I want to thank all the teams for making this tournament a great success. As an ELFA Head of Development, I really feel honoured to receive such support from our members,” said Zondo.

The last day of the tournament saw four teams battling for a finals spot with Vaal Octopus Development beating Juventus 4-0 to advance to the finals while Sebokeng Ajax beat Sharpeville Benfica 1-0 to book their place in the final. Vaal Octopus Development FC was crowned the tournament overall winner after they beat Sebokeng Ajax FC 0-1 in the exciting finals.
