VEREENIGING – Scores of African National Congress (ANC) members in the Sedibeng Region, packed Vereeniging on Wednesday, May 10, during the Duma Nokwe cleaning campaign.

According to the Regional Secretary, the programme is in line with the birthday of the former ANC stalwart and advocate who their revolutionary house is named after.

In preparation for the reopening of the ANC regional headquarters in Senator Marks that was torched in 2019, over three hundred affiliated members glared in military green overalls and swept the streets clean.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Regional Secretary, Jason Mkhwane said the cleaning campaign is a build up to the upcoming launch of their offices on Saturday, May 13.

“On the 13th of May, a political giant was born, named Dumasile Nokwe. It was in that context that our regional office was named. This day coincide with his birthday, and to mark the celebration of his birthday, fused with the reopening of our revolutionary home, we thought we should dedicate this week as Duma Nokwe week to start the preparations of the relaunch of our offices,” he said.

“We felt that it is important that when we reopen the offices, we should do so in style that befits this giant. We are cleaning today and we mobilized all our branches in the region hence there are about 300 members to join the programme,” he added.
