Emergency water supply interruption sparks outcry

“You will never hear about any area its only Sebokeng and Evaton all the time.”

News of water shortages in Evaton and Sebokeng areas have sparked a social media outcry.

In a statement on Tuesday, May 4, Emfuleni Local Municipality said it is investigating the cause of water shortages in Evaton and Sebokeng areas.

This after the water level at the Langerand reservoir was 34% and pressure readings for the two pipelines was 0 kPa, which indicated that the two pipelines were not getting enough water supply.

“A team of technicians has been dispatched to check meters and pressure valves supplying the affected areas.”

To avoid prolonged interruptions, consumers in affected areas who still have water are advised to use it sparingly until the system stabilizes.”
