Lawn bowls aren't just for old people! These youngsters did our region proud.

Sedibeng Junior Bowls played competitive lawn bowls during the school holidays (3 – 7 April) and did our region proud.

In total, they played 3 games per day,  competed in 2 different sections, and a total of 9 games, excluding the final.

The u/18 team ( Alex Badenhorst, Jeanre Van Wyk, Hanro Smith, and Sonya Fourie ) lost only one game throughout the tournament. They competed against 20 other teams in the A section and ultimately returned home with the gold medal.

Manager Lizelle Fourie and the 3 couches Lourens Badenhorst, Stephen Ramage, and Barend Steyn have reason to be proud.

The u/15A team (Nathan Wilkinson, Tanya Fourie, Lewies Badenhorst, and Barend jnr Steyn) also played well ending 4th out of 20 teams. Only losing 3rd place by 1 shot on an extra end. But in bowls, third and fourth place both receive bronze medals, which means the youngsters returned home with bronze medals.

The u/15B team ( Theuns Kruger, Amber Alexanders, Jessie Wilkinson, and Lize-Marie Steyn)  ended 5th in their division.

The talented youngster played their hearts out and Vaalweekblad, along with the Sedibeng coaches are proud of all the teams who represented Sedibeng.
