Economic empowerment for Midvaal

MIDVAAL. – The competition tribunal recently approved a deal where HEINEKEN South Africa will be a majority shareholder in Distell and Namibian Breweries Limited (NBL). HEINEKEN South Africa is one of the largest employers in the Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) and partners on several social impact programs.
Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) Executive Mayor, Peter Teixeira said that this deal comes with a comprehensive public interest package which includes investments in the expansion of the HEINEKEN brewery in their backyard, Kliprivier business park, the building of a new greenfield brewery, and maltery.
“As the Midvaal municipality, we congratulate HEINEKEN on this deal and look forward to partnering with them on some of their public interest commitments to benefit the communities within our municipality.”
